North Bend Masons sponsor the Masonic Bikes for Books program to encourage students to read. Each year North Bend Masons contribute bicycles to children participating in reading programs in local elementary schools.

Toward that end, North Bend Masons are happy to bring the Masonic Bikes 4 Books program to students in Snoqualmie Valley Elementary schools to establish a love for reading early in life. North Bend Masons sponsor the annual Bikes for Books program with the participation of Singletrack Cycles of North Bend.

There are three primary objectives of the program:

  • Increase student reading and comprehension skills
  • Recognize positive student achievements
  • Provide an attainable goal, with life enhancing results

Students in the Bikes 4 Books program read age-appropriate books. Each school chooses two readers to receive a bike and safety helmet. Schools participating in reading achievement programs see improved reading scores among their students.

Books also enlighten, inspire, bring happiness and success, challenge our perspectives and provide comfort at difficult times in our lives.

Each year North Bend Masonic Lodge, Unity 198, has presented bicycles and helmets to elementary school students in the Snoqualmie Valley who participated in their schools' reading achievement activities.
