This post is a followup to the one on memorizing, "By rote". The time it took me to effectively memorize the short Obligation of an Entered Apprentice Mason, proves my point that this is quite difficult for me. Kudos who have this talent! They rule!
For example, after about fifteen hours of study and repetitive practice, I was able to "prove up" at the February Lodge meeting by reciting the less-than-three-minute-long obligation of an Entered Apprentice Mason. That's about a 300 to 1 ratio of practice to performance.
For a person like me that is a lot of effort for a very brief performance. Just sayin'.
But I did it and when time permits I'll likely do it again.
